Introducing...the living room

There are still bits and bobs to do here. The shelves with the Scotland flag over them need to be converted to a book shelf, and Penny needs to reupholster the sofa's, and a few other bits and pieces, but the living room is largely done. Pen made the curtains herself, and she also made the pelmet at the top...not bad eh? It definetely needs a few photo's though...but we'll choose them from our 2006 world travel photo's when the flat is done. Patience is a virtue so they say.

and after.

We had the closet in the corner put in to hide the boiler, but also add some extra storage, added some furniture, painted the walls, and threw up some curtains...not bad eh?

This was the other side of the room, in the corner.
Same corner. We closed over the gap and turned it into a closet, so now there's a wall there...which is what the sofa and plant are up against.

Ladies and Gentlemen...we have a kitchen.

Well the last couple of weekends Penny and I blitzed the kitchen. We tiled the wall that the new cupboard made, we had Liam our joiner come back and add a bit of counter top up to the new wall, painted 2 walls, and finished papering the bit behind the fridge. We are pretty much done...we just need to tidy up a corner here, fix a kickboard there...but all the big stuff is done...and I think we've done a pretty good job if I say so myself! Take a look and see what you think!!

This is what the kitchen looked like last summer

This is a few thousand pounds and a lot of hard work later...

We even did our own floor tiling...well Penny did.

Our new counter top, which angled off into the wall

However with the leftover counter top, and a new closet that makes a wall we added a bit of counter to go right up to the closet's wall, then tiled it all. We also put a wee shelving unit in for spices and stuff.

You can see how the counter ended a bit better here, look at it angled off on the left

It looks so much better doesn't it! We also painted the window sill white, makes it a bit brighter we think.

Our little shelving unit...the truth is that we ran out of tiles, so needed to fill the space somehow...not bad eh?

Painted, and papered it looks like a kitchen now!!
